When your remodeling project or repair job requires a precisely drilled hole, try a drill press. A hand drill can wobble. A drill press keeps the drill bit and the work piece in perfect alignment.
To get that perfect hole, the drill press table allows you to clamp or hold your workpiece in a vise while you drill the hole. This keeps everything in align. Most of the drill press tables are adjustable to accommodate different size workpieces. Many tables will tilt for that hole drilled on an angle.
On top of the drill press is a series of pulleys and belts. This allows the spindle speed for the drill chuck to be changed. Move the belt to a different set of pulleys and the speed will change to match the speed required for the material being drilled.
Some drill presses feature a built-in light to illuminate the area being drilled. Most have a safety key in the on/off switch. Remove the key and the drill press can not be turned on. A great safety feature when changing drill bits or speed changes.
If you are a south-paw, look for models that allow the handle to be moved to the left side of the press. A drill press is a great power tool for every home workshop.
