Cutting tight curves with a jigsaw is easy if the saw has the right features. A scrolling orbital jig saw is especially useful, but you need to make sure it has all the attributes you need. Tim Carter demonstrates the features you should look for on your jig saw.

A jigsaw cuts wood, metals or plastics depending upon the saw blade. Newer saws feature a laser guide which is a great help with those straight cuts. Some jig saws have a built-in light above the blade which makes seeing the line you have to follow easier.

A scrolling feature allows you to rotate the blade independent of the jigsaw! This model features a five-position orbital cut control which allows adjustments for rough to finish cuts.

A quick change saw blades allows changing saw blades without removing a screw. The built-in dust blower moves the sawdust away from the blade and the line you are following.

This Skil power saw has an onboard storage compartment for extra blades. Look for all of these features when you purchase your next orbital jigsaw.
